Beware hidden sugars! Refined sugar is probably the biggest culprit in weight gain currently, but it’s not because we’re scarfing down loads of chocolate and baked goods. Make things at home, from scratch, or read labels and spring for packaged products that contain ingredients you can pronounce without a dictionary!

Eat good fats. It seems counterintuitive to eat fat when you’re trying lose fat, depriving your body of healthy fats will make it much harder to shed extra pounds. Include healthy fats like avocado, wild fish (salmon), coconut oil, grass fed butter (in moderation), nuts & seeds, which are essential to brain function, making hormones and supporting healthy cell membranes.

I'll be the first to admit that I am usually sceptical about trying diet supplements and anticipating their results. This appetite suppressant however, is great. What I like most is that it actually decreases your cravings and encourages you to consume smaller portions. The only thing is that I have to remember to drink the pill about half an hr in advance of my meal. When something works, it's worth remembering ;)

In conclusion, I’d have to say there is no SAFE magic pill. Diet and exercise is truly the safest way to lose weight, but it takes discipline and does not really suppress appetite, unless you STICK TO IT. Stop eating the processed foods and foods full of sugars and exercise a lot and eventually a balance is struck and the body no longer craves FOOD FOOD FOOD all the time unless it truly needs it to burn the calories expended through exercise. As an added bonus, you lose the weight, maybe gain muscle mass and lower cholesterol and blood pressure without medicines treating the symptoms. You have treated the CAUSE. But don’t tell Big Pharma, they will loose the portion of your paycheck they enjoy by keeping you always just south of true good health.
Over the last three months I’ve lost 22 pounds simply by upping my exercise and reducing bad calories. I’m 68 years old, always in good shape, but added sedentary pounds as I aged. (6 feet tall, 212 pounds before — 190 pounds now) I’ve generally restricted my diet to about 1200 calories a day — 200 – 300 for breakfast, 200 for lunch, and about 700 or less for the rest of the day. My blood pressure has dropped from 130/80 to 117/72 and heart rate is resting 58. I’m lucky that my chronic diseases are not yet serious (osteoarthritis and borderline cholesterol, although I dont take statins because of reactions). A basic, healthy diet should include at least 3 nutritious meals a day and 1 or 2 snacks. A well-balanced diet is made up of carbohydrate-rich foods, protein, and some fat – but not too much. No foods have to be completely eliminated for a balanced diet. You can still enjoy high-fat, high-sugar foods in moderation. Healthy living is about not denial and deprivation but balance. When you go on a weight loss diet, usually the first thing sliced in half is the amount of food you eat. Wait about 10 minutes for the body to start processing the almonds and grapefruit. Then eat your high protein meal. Protein takes longer to digest and absorb and will therefore keep you fuller for longer. Include green, fibrous vegetables in you meal, like broccoli, spinach or green beans as well. These vegetables contain lots of fiber, which also takes longer to digest and consequently will also make you feel fuller for longer. You could also make use of a fiber supplement to boost the amount of fiber you get per meal.
Get all that? Basically, the differences between groups were minimal. Yes, the low-fat group dropped their daily fat intake and the low-carb group dropped their daily carb intake. But both groups ended up taking in 500 to 600 calories less per day than they had before, and both lost the same average amount of weight (12 pounds) over the course of a year. Those genetic and physical makeups didn’t result in any differences either. The only measure that was different was that the LDL (low density lipoprotein) was significantly lower in the low-fat group, and the HDL (high density lipoprotein) was significantly higher in the low-carb group.
Dietary fibers, whether from food sources or in concentrated supplement form, have been used for hundreds of years to promote fullness, improve gut health and digestive functions, and help maintain strong immunity and heart health. Despite the fact that fiber intake is inversely associated with hunger, body weight and body fat, studies show that the average fiber intake of adults in the United States is still less than half of recommended levels.
