Have you ever wondered why your doctor asks you to fast before a blood test? While fasting, your body can lower its glucose and insulin levels, improve its blood pressure and rate, and improve lipid levels [*]. Fasting has been shown to slow or prevent the onset of many diseases, from cardiovascular to respiratory. For example, in one study individuals with asthma who experimented with intermittent fasting not only lost weight, but showed improved symptoms of their asthma[*].


I first learned about the weight-loss power of tea when my mother fell victim to diabetes. A former nurse back in Korea, she urged me to look into Eastern remedies when it became clear that Western science couldn’t help her. And time and again, as I pored through the studies, the same answer kept popping up: tea. What I learned in my research, and collected in my new book, The 7-Day Flat Belly Tea Cleanse, in which test panelists lost up to 10 pounds in just one week, was that certain teas not only melt fat by boosting metabolism, but can actually prevent our bodies from forming new fat cells.
Traditionally, the lemonade master cleanse is meant to be followed rigidly for 10 days; after ten days, you can begin reintroducing other foods – juice and vegetable soup at first, followed by raw fruits and vegetables. The 5:2 diet is designed specifically to reduce your total weekly calorie intake by a similar amount as a daily calorie restriction diet. So perhaps its not too surprising that end results are similar.

In a small skillet heat the remaining ½ teaspoon olive oil on medium low. Whisk the egg whites and eggs together with a tablespoon of water until light and airy and add to the small skillet. Let cook slowly undisturbed until ½ of the eggs have set. Use a spatula to gently lift one side of the omelet so that the runny eggs can pool below, then lay back down the cooked eggs and top the entire top of the omelet with cheese.
