According to a 2015 Journal of Food Biochemistry study, foeniculum vulgare–better known as fennel–has major inflammation-fighting properties. Fans of the mild, sweet licorice-flavored tea have long used it to treat gas and other gastrointestinal issues, too. While the U.S. National Institutes of Health has no stance on fennel’s medicinal effectiveness, Germany’s Commission E, an official government agency similar to the FDA that focuses on herbs, says that the plant can indeed be an effective flatulence fighter. Hi Abel, great article and I really enjoy your work. I am just starting to experiment with a ketogenic diet and want to implement IF as a part of that. Question for you though: I work out early in the morning, usually the 5AM class. I’ll have some fatty coffee before hand and that works great to get me through my workout. But after my workout am I okay to have a post workout protein shake (I use Progenix or 3Fu3l) or will this throw off the benefits of fasting? I’ve always read your body needs the protein after a workout but feel like I should be waiting until later in the day to start eating to truly experience the benefits of IF and/or ketosis. Your thoughts and advice are appreciated. Thanks so much!
Ginger has tons of health benefits. It can help lower blood sugar levels, which otherwise can affect your ability to lose weight or eat healthy. Ginger also improves fat absorption and prevents accumulating it in the body. It increases satiety and reduces the feelings of hunger, helping you burn stubborn belly fat. Both lemon and ginger have anti-inflammatory properties that prevent inflammations and enhance the activity of the liver, which in turn, helps in shedding the pounds. Thus, ginger and lemon together make a potent combination that boost your metabolism and burns more calories. Not only is the lemon-ginger tea an excellent drink for weight loss, it is also your one-stop-drink to perfect skin and great hair. What’s even more, lemon and ginger tea contains properties that can help you build resistance against the effects of air pollution. Also known as branch chain amino acids. BCAAs are three amino acids known as Leucine, Valine and Iso-Leucine. They help prevent muscle breakdown and can be bought as yummy flavoured powders to use in place as sports drinks. Drink them during your workout instead of water as they will help you tone up as you lose that belly and may even help in the formation of abdominal muscle.
Enthusiasm for intermittent fasting was fuelled by data from animal studies that suggested fasting could help reduce the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer. However, few studies have actually examined the effects of intermittent fasting on humans for longer than six months. Carrying out long-term studies that control diet is difficult because it’s hard to get people to stick to them, and results can be affected by outside factors.
Even if you’re happy with your current weight, or finding success with your current diet plan, it can make sense to do a cleanse from time to time. Here’s why: Fast results help lead to long-term weight loss. Slow and steady is the best way to reach any personal goal, but sometimes the slow undermines the steady. A review of studies published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that those who realized rapid results were more likely to stick to their weight-loss program over time than those who saw results come more slowly. This 7-day cleanse can improve your chances of long-term adherence to a healthy weight-loss plan.
White tea is dried naturally, often in sunlight, making it the least processed and richest source of antioxidants among teas (as much as three times as many polyphenols as green tea!). A study published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism showed that white tea can simultaneously boost lipolysis (the breakdown of fat) and block adipogenesis (the formation of fat cells) due to high levels of ingredients thought to be active on human fat cells. If there’s such a thing as diet tea, this is it. And while you’re on the 7-Day Flat-Belly Tea Cleanse, chill out with these delicious and refreshing 5 Best Iced Tea Smoothies for Weight Loss!
I am from India and in this country people in the rural areas fast a lot (mostly in the morning) due to religious reasons. But they always break the fast by having stuff that is light on the stomach like fruits, buttermilk, fruit juices etc., and then go on to have heavy spicy meals, rest of the day. It always works out for them and they are a lot healthier than people living in the big cities with access to all kinds of packaged foods.
In a small skillet heat the remaining ½ teaspoon olive oil on medium low. Whisk the egg whites and eggs together with a tablespoon of water until light and airy and add to the small skillet. Let cook slowly undisturbed until ½ of the eggs have set. Use a spatula to gently lift one side of the omelet so that the runny eggs can pool below, then lay back down the cooked eggs and top the entire top of the omelet with cheese.
